Event Series Event Series: 2024 Sunday with Friends

Author Ed Ayers

May 5 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Meet Ed Ayers, one of the most distinguished historians in America, speaking about his latest book, “American Visions: The United States, 1800-1860.” This period saw the expansion of slavery, dispossession of Native Americans, mass immigration, technological advances, and many other forces that began to shape American culture through traditions of dissent and innovation that are the foundations of America today. Ayers is the author of many books on American history, including “Southern Journey: The Migrations of the American South,” and “The Promise of the New South: Life after Reconstruction.” He is originally from Kingsport, Tennessee.

The Sunday with Friends series of author presentations is sponsored by the Friends of the Washington County Public Library.
