A native of Emory, VA and educator by profession, Tammy Martin has always loved music and believes it is important to preserve and share the music and culture of our Appalachian heritage. Tammy is in her 30th year of musical performance on the hammered and mountain dulcimers as well as on the autoharp and vocals. Tammy is also a founding member of the Appalachian/Celtic group Fire in the Kitchen. The group performed throughout the state and other regions for 17 years, playing at many notable venues and festivals, including PBS “Song of the Mountains,” Bristol Rhythm & Roots and many more. As an educator, Tammy also provided dulcimer workshops within the school system and was also an instructor for the Washington County Virginia J.A.M. (Junior Appalachian Musicians) program. Whether sharing her music at church, festivals, or weddings, or as an instructor of small groups, Tammy hopes that her music will be a balm for the soul of all who hear.
