Special Collections

The Davenport Collection is an excellent resource for information about local history and genealogy. The Davenport Collection is located in The Virginia Room at the Main library in Abingdon.

The Hall Collection consists of the personal papers and other effects of Louise Fortune Hall, a well-known local historian and community leader. It primarily covers Damascus, Virginia, during the 19th and 20th centuries. It is located in the Damascus library.

The Carter Collection contains books, recordings and videos about the original Carter Family of Southwest Virginia, their family and their friends. It is located at the Mendota library.
