Summer Reading Program

WCPL’s 2021 Tails & Tales Summer Reading Challenge welcomes readers of all ages for six weeks of animal themed books and activities from Saturday, June 5th through Friday, July 16th.

We encourage participants to read as much as possible throughout the summer. Kids can play reading bingo each week or track their reading by signing up for the Kids Summer Reading Challenge on our Beanstack site. All readers will have opportunities to win weekly prizes.

Join us at all of our libraries for fun activities including story walks, scavenger hunts, and obstacle courses. Storytime To Go kits for younger readers and Take and Make kits for older readers will be available each week for children to enjoy at home, or kids can attend our outdoor storytimes and craft sessions.

Registration for outdoor events is not required, but supplies and space may be limited. Please bring chairs and blankets for outdoor events.

Follow our WCPL Youth Services Facebook page for up-to-date summer reading information.

Week 1: Polar Animals

Play Reading Bingo! Pick up your Bingo sheet for Week 1 and take it home to complete reading challenges and activities. Bring back a completed sheet for a small treat and an entry in our weekly prize drawing! You can also sign up and chart your reading progress on Beanstack at washcolibraryva.beanstack.org.
