DESCRIPTION:In his memoir Mailman: My Wild Ride Delivering the Mail in Appalachia and Finally Finding Home\, Steve Grant shares his humorous and heartwarming perspective about finding purpose\, faith\, and community by delivering the mail in the Blue Ridge Mountains. \nA Blacksburg\, Virginia native\, Steve was a marketing and consumer strategist for more than 25 years. He was also an adjunct professor at Virginia Tech teaching innovation and consumer behavior before he became a letter carrier during the pandemic. \nMailman received starred reviews from Kirkus and Booklist and has been nominated for a Library of Virginia Literary Award for nonfiction. The Washington Post called Mailman “utterly charming” and the New York Times described it as “warm and oddly patriotic.” \n“In this good-natured memoir\,” wrote Publisher’s Weekly\, “… Grant illustrates how the work helped him feel useful to a town he’d left behind and reignited his sense of vitality. This has charm to spare.” \nThere will be book sales and signings following the author presentation. This event is free and open to the public. \nSunday with Friends is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
