Tom Lee
March 5 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

For our Sunday with Friends program, meet Dr. Tom Lee, an associate professor of history at East Tennessee State University, who will discuss his book, “The Tennessee-Virginia Tri-Cities: Urbanization in Appalachia, 1900-1950.” The book reveals the economic changes that took place in the Tri-Cities region from 1900 to 1950 as railroads spawned industrialization, businessmen attracted low-wage industries, and farmers moved down from the mountains to work in factory jobs in the Holston River Valley where urban centers were developing. Lee is currently working on another book on the history of tobacco in Southern Appalachia.
Sponsored by the Friends of the Washington County Public Library.
