Know exactly what the
teacher expects, and make sure that you understand the assignment. An assignment
in writing is helpful to the librarian in helping you find just what you
need.
Allow enough time to do
the assignment. Gather your library books and articles early.
Resources on a specific topic may all get checked out. A
"Hold" can be placed on a book if it is checked out. When
the book is returned, you will be notified by the library that it is here
for your use.
Bring paper, pen,
textbook, assignment, change for the copier (copies are $.20 (cents) each
--if copying from a reference book owned by the library, copies are $.10
(cents) each.)
Allow extra time to use
computer resources in the Washington County Public Library System. Computers
are assigned for 1/2 hour sessions. Bring your library card.
This is used to check out computers as well as books and magazines. If
you are under 18 years old, your parent or guardian must sign a permission
form before a computer with Internet access can be used.
Know what resources you
can use. Ask your teacher if you can use:
A chapter or chapters
from one or more books
Reference books like encyclopedias and almanacs
Internet Sites
Magazines or pamphlets
If resources cannot be
located on your subject, can you change your topic?
