Reserves - Frequently Asked Questions

What do I do if the item I want is not available?

You have three options:

  • You can place a reserve.
  • You can request the library purchase the item.
  • You can ask that the item be borrowed from another library. 

How do I place a reserve?

  • Come into the library and fill out a reserve form for each book requested.
  • You will need to know the author's name and/or title of the book.

How do I complete a reserve  form?

  • Obtain a reserve form at the Circulation Desk.
  • Our reserve system is automated and is connected to your registration card.
  • Your library account must be valid and free of all charges.
  • Each patron is limited to five(5) active reserve requests.

How will I know when the reserve item is available?

  • Our library staff will make three efforts to reach you by telephone.
  • After being notified of  the item(s) availability, you will have  three days to pick it up.

What happens if I do not pick up the reserved item?

  • Your name is automatically dropped from the reserve list.
  • The item is routed to the next person on the reserve list.
  • To have the item placed back on reserve, you must again complete a reserve form, and your name is placed at the bottom of the list.

Can I cancel a reserve?

  • Yes! In order to cancel a reserve, you must do the following:
    Call or come in person to the circulation desk and inform staff that you would like to cancel a reserve.
