CONTEST RULES--
- Poetry should be related to hiking in the
Appalachian Region or anywhere on the Appalachian Trail.
- Entries must be in English.
- Entries must be original and unpublished.
- Entries must be typed, double-space, and numbered
(if longer than a single page). Individual poems should be no longer than
20 lines.
- Up to 3 poems may be submitted. If you submit more
than one poem treat each as a separate entry (i.e., do not put more than
one poem on a single page).
- Entries must be written by someone 18-years-old or
older.
- DO NOT PUT your name on the submission itself, but
include a cover page with your name, address, phone number, email address
(if available), and fax number (if available). If submitted by email or
email attachment, the first information in the electronic submission
should be your name, address, phone number, email address, and fax number
(if available).
- Submit electronic files in Microsoft Word or Text
Format to trail@wcpl.net.
- Publication rights remain with the authors, but the
Washington County Public Library acquires the right to have the winning
entries read, in whole or in part, at an awards ceremony conducted during
Trail Days and posted on the Washington County Public Library website (www.wcpl.net).
- If you submit your manuscript by USPS and would
like it returned, pleased include a S.A.S.E.

Deadline:
A postmark of April 17,
2003, or email submission no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 24, 2003.

First Place: $150 |
Second Place: $100 |
Third place: $50 |

Notification:
Winners will be notified via
method of submission. The list of winners, along with the winning entries, will
be posted
at www.wcpl.net/trail from May 11
