OUTREACH
Outreach is an integral part of the Washington County Public Library
System's services and programs. Designed to serve individuals and
groups who cannot easily access a public library, the Outreach Department
provides several important programs to all ages, including children,
adults and seniors.
|
 |
The Box O' Books program is designed to address the need for library
materials by day care and preschool facilities in our community.
This program provides a collection of materials, including books, videos
and music CDs, which are delivered to the facility on a monthly
basis. At each monthly visit, a new collection is delivered and the
previous one is picked up, and continues on to another facility. |

Reach
Out and Read (ROAR) is a library delivery service geared toward
adults and available to nursing homes, rest homes and assisted
living facilities in our county. Participating care facilities will
receive library materials in pre-selected customized sets, boxed for
easy use and storage, and clearly labeled with our Outreach Program
logo for convenient identification and return. Each assortment will
contain books, both large print and standard, music CDs, videos and
audio books. Materials are delivered free of charge to each facility
in the program by our library courier, and are rotated on a monthly
basis. |

|
Homebound Books by Mail, is available free of
charge to residents of Washington County who are unable to access
the library due to a temporary or long-term physical or medical
disability; an extreme lack of transportation; or by virtue of being
a parent or caregiver of a homebound person of any age.
Eligible potential users may receive a catalog which lists materials
available for lending by the library. The catalogs are updated and
distributed semi-annually, and contain a breakdown as to type of
materials, as well as a brief description of the items. Check out
our Homebound Books by Mail brochure

Our goal is to ensure that all citizens of our community have access to
quality library services. Please contact us at 276-676-6236 if you
have questions about these programs or to apply for Outreach services.
