READ
ACROSS
AMERICA
AT
THE
WASHINGTON
COUNTY
PUBLIC LIBRARY
HATS OFF FOR A SEUSSATIONAL BIRTHDAY PARTY!
The National
Education Association’s “Read
Across America” is an annual reading motivation and awareness
program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading
on Dr. Seuss’s birthday, March 2nd. In cities and towns
across the nation, teachers, librarians, parents, grandparents and others
develop Read Across America
activities to bring reading excitement to children of all ages.
Whatever hat you usually wear – or even if you’ve never worn one
– the Washington County Public Library has plans for you on
March 2, 2004
! The day will mark what would
have been the 100th birthday of Theodor Geisel, better known to millions
as Dr. Seuss, and the plan is to bring the entire nation under one hat –
the familiar red and white stovepipe chapeau made famous by the good
doctor himself. Children of all ages are invited to celebrate a century of
achievements by one of
America
’s
most beloved children’s authors at the Abingdon Library on Thursday,
March 2nd from
6:30
to
7:30
.
The program will feature zany performances of several Seuss books, a
Seussational movie and, of course, birthday cake!
Attendance is limited, so sign up in the Children’s Department or
by phone (676-6382) by
Monday, March 1, 2004
.
