DAMASCUS LIBRARY TO HOST STORYTELLING PROGRAM AND BOOK SALE DURING TRAIL DAYS

 

G. Lee Hearl, local Appalachian storyteller, will be at the Damascus Branch Library at   7 p.m. on Thursday, May 13, to present original stories and songs.  Hearl, a native of Washington County , is a founding member of the Jonesborough Storytelling Guild, Beaver Creek storytellers, and other organizations.   In addition to his storytelling, he plays the guitar, fiddle, banjo and other instruments.  He has appeared at festivals, theaters and colleges in Virginia , Tennessee , Kentucky , North Carolina , and West Virginia .  

On Saturday, May 15, the Friends of the Washington County Public Library will hold a book sale at the library.  The sale will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m.  

 There will be a wide selection of  almost new and used books available, covering many subjects and interests for all age groups.   Included will be adult and children’s non-fiction and fiction, picture books, biographies, cookbooks, reference sources, videos, books on tape, magazines, and much more.  Proceeds from the sale go to the improvement of library services at the five library facilities in Washington County .  

Throughout the day on Saturday, the local Whittling Club will be demonstrating their craft at the library.

The public is invited to all of these events at no charge.
