OF THE LIBRARY BOOK
SALE
SET
FOR FEBRUARY 11-12
Abingdon, Virginia - The Friends of
the Washington County Public Library are sponsoring their annual “Hearts
and Flowers” book sale on Friday, February 11 and Saturday, February 12
in the Conference Room of the Washington County Public Library in Abingdon.
The hours of the sale are as follows:
Friday, Feb. 11, 9-7 and Saturday, Feb. 12, 9-5.
This year’s event will be another opportunity to celebrate the 50th
anniversary of the establishment of the
Washington
County
Public Library. Special
drawings will be held as part of the celebration.
Along with selections of books in all major
subject areas, the sale will have lots of romance novels in celebration of
Valentine’s Day the following week.
There will also be a number of gardening books and magazines
available in anticipation of spring.
The sale will include several thousand books, videos,
magazines, books on tape and other items from which to choose.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale will be added to the Richard
and Dorothy Gardner Staff Development Fund to be used for staff attendance
at workshops and conferences. The
balance will go to support other library programs and services at the
libraries in Abingdon,
Damascus
, Glade Spring, Hayters Gap, and Mendota.
The Friends welcome donations of books, magazines (excluding weekly
issues, National Geographic, and Reader’s Digest), audiovisual
materials, art work, and or games for the sale.
The Friends organization is also kicking off the annual membership
drive during the week of February 6d through the 128th.
Volunteers will be at the Library to accept new memberships
and renewals to the organization.
