FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY BOOK SALE

SET FOR FEBRUARY 11-12

Abingdon, Virginia - The Friends of the Washington County Public Library are sponsoring their annual  “Hearts and Flowers” book sale on Friday, February 11 and Saturday, February 12 in the Conference Room of the Washington County Public Library in Abingdon.  The hours of the sale are as follows:  Friday, Feb. 11, 9-7 and Saturday, Feb. 12, 9-5.

This year’s event will be another opportunity to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Washington County Public Library.  Special drawings will be held as part of the celebration.

Along with selections of books in all major subject areas, the sale will have lots of romance novels in celebration of Valentine’s Day the following week.  There will also be a number of gardening books and magazines available in anticipation of spring.   The sale will include several thousand books, videos, magazines, books on tape and other items from which to choose.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale will be added to the Richard and Dorothy Gardner Staff Development Fund to be used for staff attendance at workshops and conferences.  The balance will go to support other library programs and services at the libraries in Abingdon, Damascus , Glade Spring, Hayters Gap, and Mendota.

The Friends welcome donations of books, magazines (excluding weekly issues, National Geographic, and Reader’s Digest), audiovisual materials, art work, and or games for the sale.

The Friends organization is also kicking off the annual membership drive during the week of February 6d through the 128th.  Volunteers will be at the Library to accept new memberships and renewals to the organization.
