Gates Computer Training Lab
What is the Gates Training Lab?
It’s a learning laboratory run by the Washington
County Public Library. The lab is free and offers a variety of training
opportunities and electronic resources.
The center offers ten PC’s with Internet access,
Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, FrontPage, and PowerPoint. Customers can
improve their computer, reading, and business skills.
The Gates Training Lab and Washington County Public
Library offer many popular interactive children’s programs. Additionally,
The Gates Training Lab has research software, including Microsoft Encarta
titles, and Microsoft software tutorials ready to use at anytime.
How does the lab operate?
The Gates Training Lab is available for:
- Customers to attend free courses in basic computer
instruction offered by the library.
- Individuals to use at their own pace.
- Community partners (civic, nonprofits, and ethnic
organizations and associations) to bring their own students.
Time is allocated for patron use along with reserved
sessions for class use. Patrons are advised to call ahead to confirm that
the Gates Training Lab is open to the public.
Reservations are encouraged. Users may come in and
sign up for one-hour sessions.
In addition to the Gates Training Lab, the
Washington County Public Library has public access computer stations in
each of their four branches: Damascus, Glade Spring, Hayters Gap and
Mendota.
