INTERNET ACCESS
Each library within the WCPLS has a minimum of four computer stations
available for public Internet access. The connections to the Internet
are made through a fiber optic line at the Main Library and via ISDN
connections at the branches.
There are NO FILTERS on the public access computers.
The Library does not monitor nor control information
a patron may access over the Internet and assumes
responsibility only for the information provided on its
home pages.
Library users under the age of 18 are required to have a parent of
guardian authorize their use of the Internet.
Parents and guardians are responsible establishing guidelines regarding
what is considered acceptable for viewing by their child. The
brochure "A Parent's Guide to the Internet" is available at each
of the libraries. The library staff also periodically offers classes
for parents and children on the use of the Internet.
E-mail
You may sign-up for and access an Internet based
e-mail service from the Library’s computers. The Library does not issue e-mail accounts. Some e-mail
attachments
may not be viewable on Library computers
because enabling software may not be installed.
Chat Rooms
If a chat room is accessible by the Internet and does
not require a change to any of the Library’s computer
settings, you may go into chat rooms.
