What is HAL?

HAL is the Washington County Public Library Systems online catalog available from your home or office via computer.   We share a catalog with Emory & Henry College, Virginia Intermont College, Milligan College, Bluefield College and King College.  This means that you can choose to search the catalogs of 6 library systems when using HAL.  The catalog lists books, videos, compact discs, audiotapes, and magazines held at all locations.

 When is HAL available?

24 hours a day.

Searching HAL

1.  To search HAL, click the drop down arrow under "Search By" and select author, title, subject, or keyword.
2. Enter what you are searching for in the "Search For" box
3. Select "Washington County Public Library" to view our holdings or select "View All Locations" to search the collections of all participating HAL libraries.
