Laptop with Fake News on screenDeciding what’s fake and what’s not in the news is becoming more and more difficult. What’s real, what’s not, what’s based in fact and what’s completely made up? These are becoming difficult questions, no matter your viewpoint.

Dr. Mark Finney, associate professor of communications at Emory & Henry College, will offer some tips on finding your way through the maze. He’ll also explain some of the trends contributing to this state of affairs.

About the presenter

Dr. Finney’s research strives to combine the insights and methodologies of conflict theory and mass communication theories into a broad approach for understanding international conflict and the relationship between conflict and media. His teaching focuses on news writing, media theory, conflict analysis and media literacy.
